Departing the Oakland area and heading south down the central valley of CA.

Lots of nothing.....

Cruising along at 9500' & 155 MPH

I-5 in the central valley near the giant cow farm.... Anybody who has driven I-5 between LA and NORCAL knows the cow farm.

Palmdale Airport where the B-2 was built. Arrowhead Lake and Big Bear mountain in the distance. Lot's of snow on the peaks.

Edwards AF Base and Rogers lakebed. Notice how the runway runs into the lake. Normally the lake is dry and hard. Edwards uses the lakebed as an extension of the runway if needed. The shuttle lands here sometimes and Burt Rutan's SpaceShip One was launched from Edwards....

Once we hit Palmdale we turned East towards Phoenix. Lots of nothing again.

After a overnight stop in Phoenix it was off to Tucson. This is the ramp at Tucson International.

Some of the company parked on the ramp. That's a Falcon 10, the first bizjet designed and sold by Falcon.

It was guard day too, all of the AZ air guard F-16's were out flying all day. A number went out with 2 sidewinder missles and came home with only 1. A KC-135 tanker was up and about too so the F-16's could practice aerial re-fueling.

Us and a Cessna Citation X on the ramp.

Another F-16 guard plane.

The old and the new...

Davis Monthan AF base. The "Boneyard"

The Red Baron Pizza aerobatic team was up practicing on the flight back to Phoenix.

Camelback mountain in central Phoenix.
